Last week, I wrote a post on my love of hip-hop and rap music. If you have not seen here, here’s the link to it. Basically, it’s a rundown of elements that bleed into the genres and the culture that surrounds it. While I do wish to return to the topic and explore more of the genre’s roots, I feel I shall save that for another day.

Today, I want to open up with a few questions for all of you guys. What kind of music do you listen to? Are there any go-to albums when life gets you down? What emotions do that album spark for you?

As I’ve stated before, I am a huge fan of hip hop and rap, but it wasn’t always like that. Back in middle school, I had a heavy obsession with rock music with my favorite band being Linkin Park. My first ever album I received was a album by this group. I still have it to this day! I remember going home after school and playing the same tracks. Every. Single. Day.

I seldomly listen to the group now, but if I do, it’s always a blast of nostalgia. I miss being younger.

As for music I listen to when life gets me down? It’s a combination of Lost in the World and Ghost Town by Kanye West, two of my favorite songs ever.

Lost in the World explores the themes of yearning for fulfillment and not truly knowing what you want from this life. This is deeply relatable for me and there are times where I do feel “lost”.

Ghost Town is more of a song of isolation, self-love and acceptance. There are many lines throughout this track alluding to the fact that while life does indeed get hard, we must continue to push forward to reach for the “Starry Crown”

Some day, some day
Some day I’ll, I wanna wear a starry crown

So once again, I leave you guys with theses questions:
What kind of music do you listen to?
Are there any go-to albums when life gets you down?
What emotions do that album spark for you?

Thank You for Reading.
