Maybe I’ll lose followers for this post. Maybe I won’t. Whatever the case may be, I feel like I must get this off my chest immediately and that is one reason I started a blog—to talk about things that affect me and oh boy, this is a big one.
Let’s talk about work and capitalism.
First, a quick definition of what capitalism is; it is an economic and political system in which all means of production are owned by a private owner rather than the state. The problem I have with it is the people at the top only caring about the profits they’re bringing in rather than the workers who bring it in. When someone becomes so blinded by their pursuit of money, they will step over piles of corpses to get it. Whether it’s destroying the planet, creating slave shops, working their employees to the bone, etc.
They, the corporations and the people at the top (i.e. managers/bosses), pay us, the working class, low wages, and mediocre health benefits and throw us out into the field, slaving away just to have put bread on the table. We do all the work whilst they rake in all the profit, paying us scraps. We’re too tired to think, too stressed out to revolt because all we’re concerned about is the next paycheck, and most of all, afraid.
The worst part about all of this is the fact that these corporations conditioned us to accept the way things are. Talk back to the boss and you’re fired. What does a firing mean in this cold world? No health insurance, no money for bills, nothing for food, gas or rent. You’re practically screwed. So, people become afraid. They become puppets willing to spit-shine their bosses’ shoes to keep them pleased.
Hey! Maybe they’ll even get a raise and a promotion with that “team player” mindset! Wait… you’re telling me that rarely happens…?
I guess what I’m trying to say is, money is not everything, and we are not tools for your gain.
The current work environment pisses me off so much because this is the way they intended the system to work. We’re not human beings under capitalism. We’re wage slaves forced to work and obey. You can’t tell your corporate overlords how you feel because guess what? You’re out of the job. They’re very sensitive people, ya know?
To avoid this life, I want to make money for myself without the use of others. People will tell me I should work my way up in a company when I vent to them but that doesn’t feel right to me… I feel like I’ll be just as bad as the people I am ranting about.
Maybe this drawing and writing thing will work out and I could entertain people around the world. At least, that’s how I feel at this current moment.
Anyway, I’m glad I could get all of this off my chest. Tell me what you guys think. Am I wrong to feel this way? Let me know in the comments. But yeah, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness review tomorrow haha. Have a nice day, everyone!
